There
were a lot of great games during week one of the college football season. Some
of the games were blowouts as expected. The important thing is, the season has
started and games are under way. As I reflect back on the weekend there are
some things that really stick out to me.
A
lot of the underdogs this weekend hung tight with their opponents for the first
half, some for the whole game, and some of them pulled off the upset that had
everyone scratching their head. Call it first game jitters, looking by the
opponent, or maybe the underdogs are catching the big schools; whatever it was
the games were close. I don’t know if anyone else noticed these games but there
were 15 of them, 15 games that featured the underdog leading or within 10
points at halftime.
Although
there were close games there were also some games that sent one team home with
their tails between their legs; ashamed for even showing up to play. I like to
pretend that my opinion matters and at the end of the weekend I look at each
game that sticks out, the best game I watched, the best game I followed, the
overall best game, the best team performance, the most surprising team
performance, the best individual performance and the most surprising individual
performance amongst other things. Then I will look at each conference performance and give the best
and worst rating for an overall conference. With games still to be on Sunday and Monday look for the postings on
Tuesday night.
Happy
College Football Season!! I hope you enjoy the year!
